Building off of the magic that was “Spand,”
dream collabo Black Spade & Knxwledge
once again re-team for a free FRSH SLCTS single,
this time bringing us “Strawberry.”
And for this round, Spade has invited some friends for the occasion -
recruiting Brooklynite, Fresh Daily & New Jeruseyan, MoRuf,
& utilizing an extended version of “Kafe” –
the lead track from Knx.’s SKR∆WBERRiES release,
to wax poetic about an all too well-known figure
in the proverbial neighborhood
for a lighthearted & heavily-styled, Three Amigos-like posse cut.
Similar in theme, but not in tone -
“Strawberry” seems to be, in a way,
a more light-hearted take on the same topic as “St. Louellyn’s Misery” –
a lesser-known 12″ from Black’s Soul Tyde days, released in 2004 -
but told from a different side of the same coin.
Along with the new single,
we’ve also included, for good measure,
Knocksteady TV‘s recent capturing of
a one-take, live in-studio Black Spade performance
of “Build & Destroy,” (the title track from his free 2010 tape)
which we feel he absolutely murdered.
