FRSHCLSV ALBUM:
Cassow –
Future Classic

Available exclusively here today
is Future Classic -
the much anticipated debut album from Cassow.

After releasing two well-received mixtapes on his own –
2010′s Mixtape Off To Mars w/ DJ Ill Will
& last year’s Head Of Class -
Cassow steps things up in every category
w/ a fully-realized project consistent in sound, theme & mood,
featuring all original production
& his still patented slick voice & steady-eyed focus.

Still just 21 years old,
Cassow has already garned a fair amount of national attention,
especially for a rapper hailing from Portland, OR -
a city that’s notoriously tough to breakout from its insulated local rap scene,
& the attention has definitely been well earned.
With one of the city’s meanest work ethics,
backed by a deadly honest braggadocio
& a refined ear for the beats that suit him best,
matched w/ an innate sense of just how to approach each of them
(recruiting regional Red Bull Big Tune champ, TROX
to A&R and coordinate the production line-up of the album was a major move as well),
all matched w/ quality visuals that can compete with the best of em -
Cassow is definitely one of the most promising talents in the NW.

And with Future Classic, he proves why.

Over production from some of the best up-and-comers,
including PRTLND/FRSH SLCTS’ own TROX, Stewart Villain & DaveNotti,
+ Seattle O.G., Jake One, St. Louis’ Trifeckta,
Chicago’s Trumaine, Sacramento duo, Hippie Sabotage & more -
Cassow writes some of his most personal rhymes to date on a variety of subjects,
serving as a will & testament of a 21 year old born & raised in NE Portland
just trying to break out & make something of his talents.

Never one to be to limited by where he’s from -
Cassow’s style fuses a myriad of influences throughout the album,
offering a NW, hood perspective
matched w/ an East Coast sense of storytelling & straightforwardness,
a Southern aesthetic of system-ready bump
(especially on the Pimp C referencing, “RND“)
& a West Coast fluidity to his approach.
And while the album is largely a solo effort,
Cassow is also joined by Philadelphia heavyweight Freeway on the single, “Cupid
& Epp of TxE on two tracks as well.
