SLCT’ED VIDEO:
DIIV
"How Long Have You Known?"

Following a a steady past few months of noteworthy singles & leaked demos,
Brooklyn-based band, DIIV
debuted their first official music video late last week.

A relatively new band, DIIV (formerly spelled Dive)
started off as solo, home recordings by Zachary Cole Smith -
the guitartist for Beach Fossils
(who also cut his teeth doing the same for Soft Black and Darwin Deez before that),
& have since evolved into an official four-piece live group,
who are set to release their full-length debut, Oshin,
this Tuesday through the Captured Tracks label.

How Long Have You Known?” is the first single from that album,
& the video gets our vote for
the Best Use Of A Blender Since “Earl” award -
not a highly contested category, true -
but the clip does earn it well all the same.

Also included here is a compiled .zip of all the band’s
official, label-sanctioned downloads thus far,
including:

1. Geist from 7″
2. Sometime from 7″
3. Corvalis from Sometime 7″
4. Sometime (Heavenly Beat Edit)
5. How Long Have You Known? from Oshin
6. Bambi Slaughter from Oshin (iTunes bonus track – cover of a once lost Nirvana demo)

Beyond that, there’s a link to a great article & interview
with the engineer of the Oshin album, Daniel James Schlett -
who gives an inside look at the recording process of the new LP
& how he and Zach Cole Smith came up w/ the project’s “mid-fi” sound.

So, you can watch the video,
download the .zip & check the interview -
all below.

  1. So do they pronounce DiiV as Dive? These things can get so confusing.

    Great band tho.
