SLCT’ED EP:
Dolphin –
Omni
b/w Iota Documentary

A few years ago I wrote a post
about one of my favorite artists & unsung heros,
Baltimore’s reclusive, one-man band/home studio, Dolphin.
In it, I explained how often he made (& at that point – never released)
these great, all original, self-made albums
(almost all of which are home recordings);
and how beautifully written & thoughtfully performed they all are,
& sadly, how unnoticed they still went.

Well, its been a while since then,
& thankfully, the Wardolphin (as he’s also known)
hasn’t slowed down at all –
in fact, he might creating now more than ever.
And unlike before – he’s been actually releasing some of his work
for the world to finally hear.

Today, for example, he just released a new free EP – Omni
included 4 songs – all released as single tracks for the first time
(most Dolphin releases are a complete album all on one track, i.e. Prince’s Lovesexy LP)
& every single one of them rank somewhere among his best,
which says a lot for a man with well over a few dozen albums to his name.

The occasion for the EP, you might ask,
is the release of his long-awaited (for those in the know)
full-length film, Iota -
which is both a one-man live performance
+ mini-documentary on the man himself.

On the new songs captured in the film,
Dolphin told us:

I wrote those songs in my head for the film, but had never heard them until I performed them for the first time during the filming.

I wanted it to be new to them and me and it felt great, man.

Great indeed.

FRSH SLCTS & Dolphin are also working together
to bring you both a free digital single
& a full-length LP compiling some of our favorite tracks
from his extensive catalog,
so be on the lookout for both of those coming soon.

In the meantime, you can stream Omni as a single song
before downloading the full, separated EP
