“Lay It Down”

As we continue our series of pre-launch posts,
I present you with a preview of the first official release on the new FRSH SLCTS –
a full-length collaboration between two fellow PRTLND representatives,
Illmaculate x G_Force (AKA Calvin Valentine) – The Green Tape.
The project flips Al Green‘s 2008 ?uestlove & James Poyser-produced album,
Lay It Down, in full & in order – starting off with the track we have for you today,
“Lay It Down” – Mr. Green’s opening title track & The Green Tape‘s intro.

Following the same narrative as the song,
the video shows exactly how the album was made -
w/ ill joining G at his home studio in SE Portland,
an ample supply of blunt objects & malted liquids going around,
a couple of slowmotion b&w movements & BOOM.
