Last week, Seattle producer, Kid Smpl
released his debut album – Skylight
on the in-town label, Hush Hush Records.
Following up on the strength of two
well-received EP’s from earlier this year,
Skylight delivers on the promises
of the potential heard on those projects,
& then some.
More than anything, the album
is an exercise in subtlety & soundscape,
both of which can be all too rare
in this fast-paced digital beat culture -
& even more rarely,
Smpl is able to achieve both
without being utterly boring.
