The much-anticipated free EP from Canadian triumvirate,
Nouvea Palais, dropped today.
Consisting of production peers -
Lunice (YouTube funk styles dancer turned LuckyMe-signed whizkid)
+ Prison Garde (latest incarnation of producer fka Megasoid, or Sixtoo of Anticon fame)
+ Ango (producer/singer, signed to LuckyMe as well) -
the three sync up here rather naturally
& by-and-large, deliver on the tall order the hype has created for the trio.
Released as a free download via the RBMA site
(which both Lunice & Ango attended together in 2010′s London edition) -
the Avant Gang Extended Play also boasts a hefty line-up of remixes
from Frite Nite founder, Salva,
Canblaster & Sinjin Hawke (whose poised for a major takeover this year),
the homie Monolithium from Vancouver BC,
and Palms Out collaborators HxdB & Self Evident.
With obviously a strong Canadian connection between the three -
the project seems to specifically revolve around the city of Montreal,
as My Man Henri @ 92bpm (our go-to Canadian beat consulate) explains here:
The Nouveau Palais Avant Guarde EP is out. A sort of Montréal, quasi Québecker reunion. You see, though Lunice, Ango and Prison Guarde have different backgrounds, they all seemingly got their chops up in Montréal during “la même époque”. The EP’s art features the provincial pride and post disco delicacy that is poutine, emblematic of Nouveau Palais’s Montréal Roots. And what better way to celebrate the EP by having performance the same week at Montréal’s premiere Electronic Festival Mutek. Indeed, this week will be the an exclusive and inaugural performance set to take place on the Red Bull Music Academy’s stage at Mutek.
