After much anticipation, Pusha T finally
dropped his Wrath Of Caine tape for free download today.
Along with the his coveted tales of powder contraband & unpronounable designers -
subjects which he alone seems to be adept at holding our attention with these days -
and newfound Jamaica-inspired flourishes without,
the Virginia dopeman also shows growth & a seasoned ear for production,
w/ Caine consisting of some of the best selection of beats
since the two classic Neptunes produced Clipse albums.
Despite a few cringeworthy hooks -
namely from repeat offenders French Montana and Kevin Gates,
both heard here falling flat trying to do Future’s style -
and a few unnecessary guest spots
(I mean, really – when has a song ever needed a verse from Wale?
Especially when his first verse here sounds like it was recorded in a submarine),
the lean 11 track tape is a solid play throughout
& serves as a formidable alley-oop to Pusha’s announced
official solo debut, My Name Is My Name
(which he makes sure you’ll remember with a tag repeated throughout).

Initial reaction is its cool. But I think Pusha is setting us up for the album. We all know he can rap and I’m sure he will step it up a couple of notches for My Name Is My Name. Overall 6.5/7 out of 10. Not bad at all just not great.
