IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Jneiro Jarel aka Dr. Who Dat? – WHODAT Radio!! #1 Beat CD

Beatheads rejoice… with a brand new digital EP from Jneiro Jarel’s beat scientist alias, Dr. Who Dat?, out now – the good Doc laced me with a free download beat CD to commemorate the occasion. The instrumental set is entitled WHODAT Radio!! #1 and plays like some sort of a radio transmission picked up from space, spoken through the universal language of the headnod. Produced in late 2006, these beats have since remained unrelease – except for a brief posting on Jneiro’s MySpace page and a few of the rough ideas on here being fleshed out and finished for his current project, Beyond 2morrow.

With Beyond 2morrow already out, Jneiro’s showing no signs of slowing down with a slew of projects already lined up – including the anticipated Willie Isz album with Dungeon Family vet, Khujo Goodie. Besides that, JJ is currently in L.A. working alongside coveted rock producer, David Andrew Sitek (TV On The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Liars, etc.), Saul Williams and others. The Red Bull Music Academy site also has a full-length stream of a new Who Dat? track, “Dr. 400,000,000″, so be sure to check for that as well.

I’m back, bidges!! Did ya miss me? Haha.

First off, I just wanted to say Thank You once again to everyone who’s hit me up about the Loose Joints mixtape. I’m glad you guys liked it – I’ve got some more mixes on their way soon, so stay tuned for more on those.

I’ll be back to doing my regularly scheduled selections starting tomorrow, but for now, here’s some release updates on past selections, along with a quick rundown of what’s been going on while I was away.

For everyone who’s been hounding me about “Where’s Tiombe?? When she’s coming out with something?!?” – I’ve got some news just for you. Tiombe Lockhart has aligned with Nick & Todd (formerly of the band, Men, Women & Children) and have formed a new group, Cubic Zirconia. They’ve just recently launched their official MySpace page with two new tracks, “Fuck Work” and “I Wanna Freebase You.” They’ll be releasing a sampler mixtape soon, so stay tuned to right here for much more from them soon. You can also check out their hilarious new blog page while you’re waiting.

The homie Jneiro Jarel (AKA Dr. Who Dat?, etc.) joins the podcast world with a brand new mix “for all you weird shoegaze heads.” Selections include TV On The Radio, Cocteau Twins, Micah & more – plus the debut of a new Willie Isz track (Jneiro’s project w/ Khujo Goodie). T3 of Slum Village un-earthed a lost gem from SV’s formative years called “Drop The Drums” on his new blog spot, T3′s Night Gallery. The song is a rare glimpse into the early stages of legends in the making, or as T3 puts it, “You can get a taste from true vintage circa 1990’s SV, when we were all about characters, alter egos and acting on songs…the good old days.”

The boys of Johnson&Jonson are at it again – with a new video clip for their track, “Up All Night.” Big ups to Okayplayer for getting the first scoop on that one. Blu also added a fresh batch of new tracks on his MySpace page – so be sure to check those out as well.

The Black Milk-produced, Invincible & Finale collaboration, “Don’t Sleep is available on iTunes now along with the Black Milk instrumental. So be sure to support that, and be on the look out for the 12″ coming soon.

And on the soul side of things, Jesse Boykins III’s full-length debut, The Beauty Created is out now on Amazon MP3, with iTunes & CD formats soon to follow.

NEW VIDEO:Ohmega Watts & Jneiro Jarel “Eyes & Ears”

New video from Portland’s own Ohmega Watts with the track, “Eyes & Ears” which also features recent Selectee, Jneiro Jarel, on the mic. Keeping it all in the fam, the video also features a guest cameo from Fresh Kept Secrets alumni, Ragen Fykes.

The track comes from Ohmega’s sophmore solo release, last year’s Watts Happening, and has just recently been released as a digital single with a brand new remix from the mysterious figure that is Clutchy Hopkins. You can hear a preview of the Clutchy Hopkins Mix below the video, and for more on Clutchy, including how he and Ohmega first linked up, check the video after the jump.

FRESHCLUSIVE:Jneiro Jarel takes us toGeorgiavania & Beyond 2morrow

Never one to come with what you expected, the ever-expanding Jneiro Jarel has blessed me with three very different, new tracks for your listening pleasure. Starting it off, we have the debut of “Viberian Twilight Part 2″ – the first leaked song off of his upcoming mini-album, Beyond 2morrow, under his mad scientist turned beat experimentalist alias, Dr. Who Dat. The instrumental track is a cinematic excursion that picks up where Part 1 (which can be found on Who Dat’s debut, Beat Journey) left off and takes it to a whole ‘nother level. Beyond 2morrow is a mostly-instrumental, 13-track mini-album intended to bridge the gap between Jneiro’s previous release with Shape Of Broad Minds, and the upcoming Willie Isz project (a duo that pairs Jneiro alongside Khujo Goodie of the legendary Goodie Mob).

Repping for the Willie Isz project, we have their latest track, “In The Red” – which finds Khujo in rare form as Jneiro’s smoothed-out backdrop seems to take him back to his Soul Food-era roots. “In The Red” is a far cry from the psychedelic crunk of the previously leaked title track, “Georgiavania (GA PA)” – so Georgiavania is looking to be yet another kaleidoscope of sounds from Jneiro Jarel when it drops next year. This track actually comes courtesy of SpineMagazine.com so big ups to them for that one.

But before we can fully go where Jneiro’s headed, lets first take a look back at where he’s been with “AKA Mr. Mole” – an unreleased demo from 2006. The track pairs Jneiro’s unique brand of sci-fi storytelling over a sparse loop with that added touch of signature Who Dat flare to it. This track is a rough sketch from the same ‘06 sessions of beat experiments that some of Beyond 2morrow was pulled from, which were later resurrected and revamped. For more of these, check back for another round of Who Dat/Label Who FRESHclusives coming very soon.

Same deal as yesterday, preview all three tracks below and then download them in one convenient .zip at the bottom. The only catch is – this time around’s the download will only be available for this week only – so come next week you’ll only be able to stream each track. Better get ‘em while you can….
