First off, apologies for the brief hiatus – it just be like that sometimes. Anyway, I’m back up in it now with two more Mello Music Group exclusives for you guys today. Following up on last week’s debut from Oddisee‘s Mental Liberation album, I’ve got one more for you – the “Drugs Outside (Remix)” featuring Black Milk and Rapper Big Pooh. This is a new remix from the track that was originally released as an extended single last year and was also used for Georgia Anne Muldrow‘s “2 MC’s” off her recent Ms.One album.

And along with Mental Liberation, Oddisee’s remixes of LA rapper, Trek Life‘s Price I’ve Paid album – retitled New Money is also in stores this week. So to coincide with that, Trek blessed us with an exclusive, unreleased track entitled, “Break Up Season,” which was produced by Flip out of Linz, Austria.

Here’s a late first listen of the newly released compilation from Georgia Anne Muldrow, under her production alias, Ms.One. The album features Ms.One producing for (and in some cases introducing) her whole Epistrophik Peach Sound crew, which features songstress, Jimetta Rose; spoken word artist, Eagle Nebula; rapper Illicit Child, and a slew of others. And as previously posted, the album also features a guest spot from Stacy Epps on the highlight, “Motivations.”

Another guest spot on the album includes Black Milk & Rapper Big Pooh trading verses on the short but impactful, “2 MC’s.” The track is actually Georgia’s remix of Mello Music Group’s “Drugs Outside” (originally produced by Oddisee) from Georgia’s upcoming album with Dudley Perkins, entitled SomeOthaShip.

To go along with the download of “2 MC’s,” I’ve also got full-length streams of Illicit Child‘s somber anthem for the strugglers, “Far Behind,” and a fierce Georgia solo song, “Mr. President” (which Georgia informs us doesn’t only pertain to Bush).

And since this album “preview” is a little late, I’ve even thrown in an exclusive first listen to “Roses,” the first single off of Georgia Anne Muldrow’s upcoming Umsindo album. Today marks the debut of my new podcast, simply titled Fresh Selects Radio. Even though this is the first episode, it feels like the second in a way, because its more or less a follow-up to the Loose Joints mixtape I put together last fall. Just like that, its a collection showcasing both new and unreleased tracks from some of my favorite artists, some projects I’ll be working on in the near future, artists you should be on the lookout for, and more. I’ve also thrown in a few tracks that have been previously been posted on the site that you might’ve missed. But unlike the Loose Joints .zip, this podcast is one single track, which freed me up and allowed me to include some super-exclusives that I know I couldn’t post as individual downloads.

Originally, I was going to host the podcast like a radio show – but instead I decided to let the music speak for itself. If you feel like it sounds unfinished, I left the instrumental interludes I was going to talk over in the mix, so feel free to fill in the blanks yourself. However, if people get on some bullshit and rip some of the exclusives from the mix and re-post them as downloads on other sites, then next time out I’ll have to talk all over all the good shit – so just behave yourselves & act right and I’ll be able to keep bringing you the latest & greatest without any problems.

I might still write up some liner notes to go along with the tracks, but it might be a while. We’ll see what the feedback & response is like first (*cough*leaveacomment!*cough) and then take it from there. So yeah, lemme know what you think. The always otherworldly duo of Georgia Anne Muldrow & Dudley Perkins have returned with some more fOnk for your soul. This time it’s in the form of their new single, “Endure”, from their forthcoming collaboration album, SomeOthaShip. With Georgia providing both the beat & hook for “Endure,” the verses features both the rocksteady cadence of Rapper Big Pooh (of Little Brother), and the always on-point flows of MED (from the Oxnard/Stones Throw crew). And as if that line-up wasn’t enough on its own, it also comes with exclusive remixes from 2 of the most consistent producers out right now, Oddisee and Oh No.

The line-up for the rest of SomeOthaShip is no joke either – besides those already mentioned, the guestlist also includes appearances from Black Milk, Kool G Rap, Prince Po, J. Sands and LMNO, plus production from Flying Lotus, Black Milk, and of course, Georgia herself (all of which are featured in the cover art by one of my new favorite artists, Tokio). The album will be available in the coming months through the Mello Music Group – a fresh new label based out of Arizona. Mello have just recently released the very dope Oddisee 101 & 102 compilations and already have an impressive arsenal of established artists on their roster.
