St. Louis-based singer/songwriter & producer, Teresajanee
is someone that had come highly recommended to me
by both I, CED and Black Spade
for a few years now.
And at midnight tonight, Teresa released Electric Yellow -
a free, full-length follow-up to her 2009 The Ecklectic release -
&, just like she did then, she offers up a wholly unique sound & approach,
putting her own twist on electronic-inspired R&B and current pop music,
with refreshing production & unexpected notes hit abound -
the album is definitely an unpredictable listen
as it shapeshifts before your ears on each songs.
Upon first listens,
selected highlights include the island getaway that is “Tahitian Vanilla,”
the sultry, shoulder leaning “Cleopatra Love & War”
the Stoney Rock voicebox-enhanced, climate stirring “The Storm”
& the vulnerably open, “Timber” -
but there’s really a lot more going on here,
most of which will likely reveal itself upon repeated listens.
