Today we’re proud to present the latest video from TxE -
the second from the PRTLND power trio’s FRSH SLCTS debut, We Get It In True,
which we released together in February of this year.
Back in late 2009, when TxE were still “T&E” –
a new rap duo made up of
TOPE (of Living Proof) & Epp (of the recently defunct, Thrilla Music Group) -
the first person they sought out to produce a track
for their newly formed project was G_Force -
a young, somewhat unknown producer in the area
who had just moved up to Portland via Eugene, an Oregon college-town to the south.
Consequently, “Get It Back” was one of the very first songs they recorded together.
The three knew from that song alone that the chemistry they had together
was something that worked,
& they immediately added G_ as an official third member of the group,
and that song became a cornerstone of the TxE sound
& a staple of their soon-to-be notorious live shows.
In fact, “Get It Back” was the first video the group ever shot,
back in 2010, they premiered an unfinished rough cut of a b&w clip for it
live at Portland’s famed, The Fix,
but the video’s directors never finished it,
so one of the group’s biggest songs had remained video-less.
Following up on the carefree vibe of their previous shoot for “The First One,”
TxE this time hooked up w/ local film team heavyweights, V1Creative
& shot a completely new video for “Get It Back”
all in one day at Oaks Park in deep SE Portland
(its very much a lightweight Six Flags, but its also basically the only one in the area) -
all of which pretty accurately (& awesomely) captures the joking comadre of the group.
You can check the video,
exclusively premiered here on FRSH SLCTS,
